Hanoverian Scenthound originated in Germany, this type of dog is a loyal, independent and calm type of breed. By its origin, this dog has various types of names such as Hanoverian Hound, Hanoverian Scent Dog, and Hannoverscher Schweisshund. Breeders preserved The Hanoverian Scenthound in the hunting region of Hannover. Registered in 1894, the Verein Hirschmann E.V. club has been taking care of the breed where it was established.

Hanoverian Scenthound originally came from Germany. Hunters and trackers used this dogs ability to smell blood. Breeders introduced these dogs to France in the early 1980s. Thereafter, they were crossbred with the Bavarian Hound to create a great breed known as Bavarian Mountain Scenthound.

This breed is medium-sized with a red, short coat. Hanover Hound was described by a Hanover Hound lover as calm, loyal, and energetic. A large house with a yard is the best place for this kind of breed.

The Hanoverian Scenthound is very easy to groom. They should only be bathed when very dirty. They do not require regular brushing but still shed in the fall and spring.
